Aniruddha Mukherjee graduated from the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, with a first class in 1985, and with a Teachers' Training certificate from Kolkata University (with distinction) in 1987. Having solo exhibitions since 1987, (Tagore Art Gallery, Kolkata, 1987, 1988, Academy of Fine Art, Kolkata, 1989, Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata, 1997 and Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, 1998), Mukherjee has participated in numerous group shows - Academy of Fine Arts, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi and Kolkata since 1990, Samabhava for Aid at Birla Academy, Kolkata, 1996, National Exhibition of Art, 1988, 2001 and the Bhopal Biennale in 1994.
 
Mukherjee has received awards from West Bengal Government for Poster in 1996, International Airports Authority of India, 1987, Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, 1985 and the Indian Society of Oriental Art, Kolkata, 1989 and 1982.
 
A member of the Society for Impressionists 87, Kolkata, the Rajiv Gandhi Art and Craft Centre, Mumbai, and Uttsa in Kolkata, Mukherjee's works are in the National Gallery of Modern Art and Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, and in several private collections in India, England, Russia, Austria and USA.
